Service Manager Private Sector Housing Lead

About this role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Service Manager to lead our Private Sector Housing Team and Private Rented Property Licensing Scheme. The successful candidate will have a strong background in environmental health and housing, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality services and managing teams effectively.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to improve the quality, safety, and choice of residential accommodation in Barking and Dagenham
- Manage the Private Sector Housing Team and Private Rented Property Licensing Scheme, ensuring effective regulation and enforcement of housing standards
- Collaborate with external partners and stakeholders to deliver services that meet the needs of the community
- Ensure governance arrangements are adhered to in respect of licensing of rented properties and enforcement action against criminal landlords
Requirements
- BSc Environmental Health or other relevant housing qualification
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Housing Act 2004, Crime & Disorder Act 1998, and Environmental Health legislation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders
- Proven track record of delivery, development, and successful management of regulatory services
