Service Manager Private Sector Housing Lead

The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Service Manager to lead the Private Sector Housing Team and Private Rented Property Licensing Scheme. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Head of Service in reviewing and developing all private sector housing functions to improve the quality, safety, and choice of residential accommodation in the borough.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to improve the quality and safety of residential accommodation in the borough
- Manage the Private Rented Property Licensing Scheme and ensure compliance with relevant legislation
- Drive and manage the service to deliver the aims of the Private Sector Housing Team
- Ensure governance arrangements are adhered to in respect of licensing of rented properties and enforcement action against criminal landlords
- Manage human, physical, and financial budgetary resources effectively
Requirements
- BSc Environmental Health or other relevant Housing qualification
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Housing Act 2004, Crime & Disorder Act 1998, and Environmental Health legislation
- Investigative skills and ability to create, maintain, and enhance effective working relationships within the service and external partners
- Clear understanding and commitment to the principles of equality and diversity
