Job Title: Localization Editor

About the Role

The Localization Editor is a key member of our editing team, working closely with other localization editors, translators, and project coordinators to ensure the highest quality of video games and related materials in the French language. This role requires a deep understanding of native slang, phraseologies, and nuances of the French language.

Responsibilities

  • Editing of various computer games-related materials, including in-game text, templates, packaging, press releases, and marketing materials in French.
  • Overseeing the QA process for computer games and implementing changes as needed, with a thorough knowledge of the games being localized.
  • Editing grammar, punctuation, spelling, style, and language-specific slang in French.
  • Maintaining consistency in the use of terminology and style in French.
  • Reviewing, revising, and proofing all video game-related content.
  • Leading and supporting projects as required.
  • Collaborating with other languages to maintain high standards across all languages.
  • Supporting translators and coordinators as needed.
  • Regular reporting of progress to in-house management.

Requirements

  • Three to four years of related professional experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent level of applicable experience.
  • Detail-oriented with proven ability to multitask various projects simultaneously.
  • Team worker with near-native level language skill of French and fluent English language skill.
  • Knowledge of local culture for the language of expertise.
  • Previous experience in the gaming industry is a strong plus.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing specialized technical programs to edit files.
  • Experience with Word and Excel is required, with the ability to learn new programs.
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure with unpredictable schedules and tight deadlines.
