Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Materials Engineer to join our team at Contechs. As a Materials Engineer - Surface Materials Specialist, you will be responsible for evolving surface materials and technologies across various vehicle programs to concept and application readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and mature material concepts to application readiness, focusing on production feasibility and manufacturing technologies.
  • Collaborate with Materiality Designers, Suppliers, and the wider Bespoke team to drive innovation and efficiency.
  • Lead the Surface Material Integration team in material and component commodity expertise, ensuring a diverse and comprehensive understanding of production feasibility.
  • Work closely with Materials Engineering and in-house labs to test new materials, defining new test specs as required for new materials in the automotive space.
  • Identify and resolve test failures, working with suppliers to re-engineer materials and optimize production processes.
  • Develop and manage timing plans and commodity developments, ensuring seamless project execution.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in color matching of materials, from manufacturing to component technology implementation.
  • Strong understanding of product design, aesthetic judgment, color vision, and color perception.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to relate to and communicate at all levels.
  • Proficient in creating timing plans and managing commodity developments.
  • Full driving license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the automotive sector.
