Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled pharmacist to lead our Renal, Respiratory and Cardiovascular (RRCV) service at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. As Lead Pharmacist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality pharmacy services to patients and staff, and for developing and implementing innovative solutions to improve patient care.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide expert clinical advice to nursing and medical staff on the management of patients with renal, respiratory and cardiovascular conditions.
  • Oversee the provision of a highly specialized pharmacy service to patients, including the management of medications and the development of treatment plans.
  • Lead a team of pharmacy professionals to deliver, develop and manage the pharmacy service, including the training and development of staff.
  • Work closely with other clinical teams to ensure efficient transfer of clinical and medicines management issues.
  • Take overarching responsibility for all pharmacy research and audit projects within the service, and oversee training including undergraduate placements, trainee pharmacists and diploma students.

Person Specification

We are looking for a pharmacist with:

  • MPharm postgraduate clinical qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Membership of a professional organization, such as the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS), UK Clinical Pharmacy Association (UKCPA), or British Oncology Pharmacy Association (BOPA).
  • Experience of delivering education and training at postgraduate level.
  • Expert clinical knowledge and skills relevant to the area of practice.
  • Experience of monitoring standards of service and influencing others to maintain or improve performance.
  • Proven ability to influence beyond professional boundaries.
  • Able to provide highly complex information on clinical pharmacy and issues and impart knowledge to other healthcare professionals.
