Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, United Kingdom The Institute of Cancer Research Full time
Postdoctoral Researcher in Molecular Hematology

The Haemato-Oncology Team at The Institute of Cancer Research is seeking a dedicated and proficient postdoctoral researcher with expertise in both normal and malignant hematopoiesis. This role will focus on investigating the effects of the epitranscriptome and hypoxic conditions on hematopoiesis and the transformation into leukemia. The primary objective is to identify and validate innovative therapeutic targets in leukemia that selectively affect cancer stem cells while preserving normal hematopoiesis.

Supervision for this project will be provided by Prof. Kamil R. Kranc. The lab has a strong publication record, including significant contributions to the understanding of hematopoiesis through recent studies. The successful candidate will utilize advanced methodologies to discover and validate new therapeutic avenues in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and essential regulators of hematopoietic stem cell function.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates must possess a PhD in a relevant life sciences discipline, particularly in the field of hematology and oncology. Extensive laboratory experience in in vivo studies, molecular biology, RNA biology/epitranscriptome, hypoxia biology, and omics technologies (such as RNA-seq, CLIP-seq, ChIP-seq), along with protein biochemistry, is essential. A strong publication history in RNA and/or hypoxia research will be considered an asset.

The Institute of Cancer Research has a policy that limits the duration of employment for Postdoctoral Training Fellows to a maximum of 7 years, provided that the total postdoctoral experience does not exceed 10 years.

Department Overview:

The Haemato-Oncology Team, under the leadership of Professor Kranc, is part of the Division of Molecular Pathology.
