Key Responsibilities

As a Lead People Strategy Consultant, your primary duties will encompass:

  • Collaborating with organizational leaders to formulate and execute a workforce strategy that aligns with their strategic objectives and the broader organizational goals.
  • Partnering with leadership to facilitate transformative people initiatives within the designated business area.
  • Providing expert guidance and support to senior management and key stakeholders on intricate employee relations issues.
  • Leading complex change management and workforce initiatives driven by organizational priorities, regulatory requirements, and external influences.
  • Establishing and nurturing robust internal and external networks within the NHS and related sectors.

Job Responsibilities

In this role, you will partner with business leaders, providing strategic and operational insights on human resource matters tailored to the needs and priorities of the respective business directorate.

The successful candidate will be forward-thinking, commercially astute, and adopt an evidence-based approach, proactively engaging with their business area to ensure current objectives are met while focusing on future strategic aims. You will take full ownership of the workforce agenda within your business directorates, manage relationships effectively, and ensure the successful delivery of complex HR practices.

Additionally, you will lead workforce initiatives across the organization, from conception through implementation and ongoing development, ensuring these initiatives benefit both employees and the organization. Such initiatives may include talent management, workforce planning, engagement, and performance management.

As a partner to the business, you will work collaboratively with colleagues across the HR team, fostering a unified team ethos, supporting team development, and challenging the status quo to ensure a consistent, value-adding HR service to leaders and employees.

Accountabilities

  1. Engaging with leaders of specific business directorates to fully understand their operational landscape and future strategic objectives, creating and delivering a workforce plan that supports these aims and the broader organizational strategy.
  2. Collaborating with leadership to facilitate people change initiatives, providing a structured framework to manage ongoing change processes, including dependencies, risks, and potential scenarios.
  3. Maintaining awareness and management of headcount and contingent labor within your business directorates, optimizing role design and ensuring budget compliance.
  4. Contributing to the overarching People Strategy to ensure alignment with business objectives through effective people initiatives.
  5. Advising and supporting senior management on complex employee relations matters, including conduct and capability issues, and navigating employment legislation and organizational policies.
  6. Coaching and enhancing the capabilities of senior managers to achieve strategic goals through their teams, while anticipating and addressing organizational and workforce challenges.
  7. Continuously developing your professional knowledge by staying informed on external trends and best practices in HR, ensuring this knowledge is shared within your business areas.
  8. Working with business leadership to enhance colleague engagement and experience, utilizing feedback from colleague surveys.
  9. Acting as a thought leader on workforce initiatives across the organization, collaborating with the Organizational Development team to ensure initiatives are beneficial for both employees and the organization.
  10. Leading on complex change and workforce initiatives driven by external factors, managing the entire process from impact assessment to data analysis and reporting.
