Care and Support Worker for Students with Special Needs

GSL Education is seeking dedicated Care Support Workers to join our team of educational professionals supporting students in primary and secondary schools.

We are looking for individuals with experience working with young people who have a range of special educational needs and behavioral challenges. You will play a vital role in helping these students achieve their academic and social goals, fostering independence and creating a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized learning experiences tailored to each student's needs.
  • Assist with personal care tasks as required.
  • Deliver high-quality support under the guidance of classroom teachers.
  • Contribute to lesson delivery aligned with national curriculum standards for both primary and secondary education.
  • Implement behavior management strategies and provide intervention support.
  • Ensure a safe and nurturing learning environment for all students in your care.
  • Collaborate effectively with other educational professionals, including psychologists, social workers, and CAMHS specialists.
Ideal Candidate Profile

We are seeking individuals who possess:

  • At least six months of hands-on experience supporting adults or young people with diverse needs, such as physical learning disabilities, dyslexia, social and emotional mental health challenges, aggression, PMLD, dementia, anxiety, self-harm, autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, medical conditions, attachment disorders, and those from LAC/residential backgrounds. Personal experience is also highly valued.
  • A calm and compassionate demeanor with a positive outlook.
  • Resilience and the ability to thrive in challenging situations.
  • A valid Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered to the update service or willingness to obtain one through GSL Education.
  • Availability to work from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday, during term time only.
