We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Learning Support Assistant to join our Progressions department at Heart of Worcestershire College. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality learning support to students with special educational needs and disabilities, enabling them to engage and achieve their goals.
- Work collaboratively with curriculum staff, Student Services, and external agencies to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed.
- Develop and implement individualized learning plans to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of College attendance, retention, and achievement strategies.
- Provide incidental personal care support where necessary, and work with students to develop independent living skills.
- Level 2 qualification in both Maths and English, or a willingness to gain.
- Experience gained in support services, especially for young people (e.g. education, Social Services, mental health services, the NHS).
- Experience of working with young people and vulnerable adults.
- First Aid Trained, or willingness to undertake the training and remain up to date.
- Fire Marshal duty trained or willingness to undertake the training and remain up to date.
- Level 2/3 qualification in Learning Support.
- Manual handling accreditation.
- Previous knowledge and ability to support learners with Autistic spectrum conditions, Profound and multiple learning difficulties, Moderate/mild learning difficulties, Behavioural difficulties, and Mental health difficulties.
- Tolerance and the ability to work well with a range of learners and colleagues.
- Commitment to own continuing professional development.
- Motivated and enthusiastic.
- Ability to work on own and take the initiative.
This is a part-time position, working 30 hours per week for 34 weeks per year. The salary range for this post is from £22,074 to £22,864 per annum pro rata, dependent on qualifications and experience.
The College operates an occupational pension scheme, and all successful applicants will be required to undergo a Disclosure & Barring Service check.
