About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Acute Medicine Specialist to join our team at Gateshead Health. As a Senior Medical Consultant, you will play a key role in providing senior cover for the Emergency Admission Unit and Same Day Emergency Care Unit.

Main Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with local managers and professional colleagues to ensure the efficient running of services.
  • Observe and adhere to the Trust's agreed policies and procedures, as well as approved standing orders, financial instructions, and standards of conduct.
  • Supervise and train junior medical staff, and be responsible for their training and development.
  • Teach medical students and other healthcare professionals as required.
Requirements
  • Full GMC Registration, with licence to practise, or eligible for full GMC registration.
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Acute Internal Medicine, or within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training at time of interview.
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Experience in Acute Medicine clinical management, including SDEC.
  • Involvement in clinical audit and quality improvement.
  • Experience in teaching and supervision of junior colleagues and medical students.
  • Educational supervision experience or training.
  • Published research or publication in journals.
  • Presentation at regional, national, or international critical care meetings.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the Trust.
  • Professional attitude towards reliability, quality of clinical and non-clinical work, attendance, and flexible approach to supporting Departmental needs.
