Clinical Scientist or Senior Biomedical Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Scientist or Senior Biomedical Scientist to join our Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (H&I) Laboratory at NHS Blood and Transplant. Our laboratory plays a critical role in supporting renal and stem cell transplantation for NHS teaching hospitals in the UK. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing, analysing, and interpreting a wide range of specialist scientific and technical procedures and investigations.
Main ResponsibilitiesAs a Clinical Scientist or Senior Biomedical Scientist, you will be required to:
- Analyse and perform molecular and serological based testing in relation to solid organ and haematopoietic stem cell transplant and immunogenetic services.
- Assist with quality management issues within the laboratory, under the direction of the Clinical Scientists Section Head and Laboratory Operations Manager.
- Communicate specialist results to internal and external clinicians, other healthcare colleagues, and scientific staff.
- Contribute to the coordination and supervision of the work, training, and conduct of scientific and support staff.
- Assist with the supply of HLA selected platelet units and provide advice to clinicians.
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Clinical Scientist or Senior Biomedical Scientist with a strong background in clinical solid organ and/or stem cell transplantation science. You will have a proven track record of working to quality and accreditation systems and standards, and be proficient in relevant specialised laboratory techniques and environments. You will also have experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office packages.
We require a MSc or equivalent in transplantation, immunology, transfusion, or relevant science, and Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC) registration as a Clinical or Biomedical Scientist. You will also need to demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development (CPD).
