Job Summary
The NPD Research Scientist II will be a key member of the ASR Group research and development team, responsible for driving new product innovation and development. The successful candidate will have a strong background in food science and research, with experience in product formulation, development, and commercialization.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Development
- Design and develop new products from bench top to commercialization, ensuring they meet specified parameters of cost and label claims.
- Evaluate new ingredients, verify nutritional profiles, and conduct product or packaging stability assessments to deliver against design briefs.
- Pilot Plant Process Development
- Support the development of pilot plant processes, systems, and technologies by staying informed of new and existing equipment, approaches, and techniques.
- Prepare products for testing and conduct production trials with technical cross-functional team members to validate product formulation.
- Project Management
- Develop and implement projects while preserving a safe and accident-free laboratory environment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams through project meetings to provide technical direction and identify solutions.
- Quality Assurance
- Lead the development of quality assurance programs in partnership with QA.
- Comply with GMP/GLP rules and regulations while conducting experiments with a safe quality mindset.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Food Science or a related technology/engineering field.
- Hands-on experience in analytical and physical testing methodologies within the food industry, such as moisture, color, rheology, and spectroscopy.
- Project management experience is required, with the ability to manage multiple work streams in parallel.
- Familiarity with Genesis or similar software is preferred.
- Compusense Sensory Software and SAP PLM experience are also a plus.
- Computer literacy in MS Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, Teams, Projects, and Power Point is essential.
- Ability to communicate and present project updates and risks to R&D leadership.
Travel Requirements
- Less than 10% travel for business meetings, with minimal frequency based on business needs.
