About the Role

We are seeking an experienced audit professional to join our team as a Global Development Assurance Specialist. As a key member of our international development team, you will be responsible for leading audits and special assignments in various locations around the world.

Key Responsibilities
  • International Travel: Conduct audits and special assignments in a wide range of locations, working with NGOs, public sector organizations, and institutional donors such as the United Nations.
  • Public Sector Audit Expertise: Demonstrate a detailed knowledge of public sector audit issues and techniques, providing guidance to team members based on previous experience.
  • Public Sector Structures and Legal Frameworks: Demonstrate a detailed understanding of public sector structures and the legal and contractual frameworks in which assignments are performed, providing guidance to team members based on previous experience.
  • International Standards on Auditing (ISAs): Demonstrate a detailed understanding of ISAs and provide guidance to team members based on previous experience.
  • Assignment Planning and Execution: Be involved in the assignment process from planning to finalization, preparing tailored plans for large or complex assignments.
  • Team Leadership: Lead assignment fieldwork teams, including locally based staff, for large or complex assignments.
  • Reporting and Communication: Identify findings on an assignment and write them up in a detailed, precise, and clear way in the assignment report, leading opening meetings and presenting audit findings at closing meetings.
  • Time Management and Budgeting: Monitor time spent on assignments against budget and discuss with the Manager if budget overruns are anticipated.
  • Proposal Development and Tendering: Prepare proposals for specific assignments within a framework contract and contribute to drafting tenders.
  • Business Development and Networking: Identify potential opportunities for obtaining new work, take action to follow up such opportunities with a manager/partner, and develop internal contacts.
Internal Development and Training
  • On-the-Job Training: Provide on-the-job training and guidance to more junior team members throughout the assignment process.
  • Office-Based Training: Contribute to office-based training sessions, including development of training material.
  • Induction Training: Conduct induction training for new staff members.
  • Performance Management: Do job appraisals for more junior team members and check that the staff planner is kept up to date for each assignment.

Please note that fluency in Spanish is not a requirement, but similar opportunities may be available for non-Spanish speakers.
