Neurologist Position at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Neurologist to join our team at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. As a leading healthcare provider, we offer a dynamic and challenging environment for medical professionals to grow and develop their careers.

  • Key Requirements:
    • Full GMC Registration: We require applicants to hold full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
    • Specialist Registration: While not essential, having GMC Specialist Register for specialty or being a Specialty Registrar with CCT/CESR(Combined Programme) due within 3 months of interview date is highly desirable.
  • Experience:
    • Essential:
      • Broad Training and Experience in General Neurology: We are looking for candidates with broad training and experience in General Neurology, including a strong foundation in clinical practice and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
    • Desirable:
      • Sub-Specialty Interest: A sub-specialty interest, particularly in Headache or Epilepsy, is highly desirable.
    • Skills:
      • Essential:
        • Effective Team and Multidisciplinary Working: We require candidates to demonstrate evidence of effective team and multidisciplinary working, including the ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.
        • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills in written and spoken English are essential, with the ability to communicate complex medical information effectively.
    • Clinical Governance:
      • Essential:
        • Clinical Audit and Appraisal: We require candidates to have evidence of participation in clinical audit and a clear understanding of the role of audit in improving medical practice, as well as proactive engagement with appraisal and revalidation.
    • Research:
      • Essential:
        • Critical Appraisal of Research: We require candidates to have the ability to critically appraise research and apply evidence-based practice in their clinical work.
    • Teaching:
      • Essential:
        • Teaching Medical Students and Junior Doctors: We require candidates to have evidence of teaching medical students and junior doctors, with a commitment to ongoing professional development and education.
    • Management:
      • Essential:
        • Effective Leadership Skills: We require candidates to demonstrate evidence of effective leadership skills, including the ability to lead and manage teams effectively.
