Ward Support Healthcare Specialist
Job Overview
We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a dedicated ward support healthcare specialist with a keen interest in elderly care. The Longridge ward, part of Longridge Community Hospital, is a 15-bed unit committed to delivering exceptional care for patients within the local adult demographic who require sub-acute health services. This facility serves as both a step-up and step-down service, facilitating recovery and rehabilitation following medical and surgical conditions, while also offering palliative and end-of-life care, along with managing complex discharge planning. Shift patterns include early, late, and night shifts on an internal rotation basis, with the possibility of discussing long day shifts, though these are not guaranteed.
Key Responsibilities
We are in search of enthusiastic and experienced healthcare assistants to join our team. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality care and supporting change management initiatives. Successful applicants will possess excellent communication skills, enabling them to motivate and inspire others while ensuring patient safety. They will act as advocates for our patients, capable of identifying changes in patient needs and reporting these to the nurse in charge. Additionally, candidates will be expected to complete assigned tasks that support the registered nurses and show a willingness to learn new skills, while encouraging adherence to the trust's values to ensure holistic patient care.
About Our Organization
Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust offers a variety of services, including secondary mental health care across the region. Our specialized provisions encompass inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health, and forensic services, including low and medium secure care.
Furthermore, the Trust provides an array of physical health and well-being services within the community, collaborating with various partners across Lancashire, Cumbria, and Sefton.
We advocate for flexible working arrangements, believing that a healthy work-life balance enhances the well-being of NHS employees. We are open to considering various working patterns, such as term-time, part-time, compressed hours, flexi-time, and career breaks. We encourage applicants to clearly state their preferences on their application forms and discuss these options during the interview process.
