About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Senior Healthcare Assistant to join our team on Ribblesdale Ward, a purpose-built oncology ward at the Royal Preston Hospital. As a Senior Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our patients, working closely with our nursing team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide personalized care to patients, adhering to local and national standards.
  • Assist patients with their nutritional needs, ensuring they receive the best possible care.
  • Undertake clinical duties relevant to the clinical area, following achievement of competencies.
  • Maintain patient safety, adhering to health, safety, and security legislation, policies, and guidelines.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, clean, and productive care environment, compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Actively resolve issues and complaints at the local level, reporting outcomes to the line manager.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Education

  • GCSE Maths and English grade C or above, or level 2 numeracy skills and level 2 literacy skills.
  • BNCS or NVQ in Health Level 2.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Previous experience working in an acute healthcare or related setting.
  • Understanding of health and safety issues within healthcare.
  • Understanding of the role of a band 3 Senior HCA.
  • Understanding of the concept and application of confidentiality.
