Position Overview: As a Community Policy Advisor, you will collaborate closely with the Local Well-being Partnership Lead Sponsor and various stakeholders to fulfill the following objectives:

  • Service Mapping: Identify and map services available for older adults, as well as for individuals experiencing loneliness and isolation. Promote intergenerational activities that enable older adults to thrive and reconnect with their communities.
  • Research and Consultation: Conduct research, gather evidence, and engage in consultations with older people's groups and other community members to establish the Blaenau Gwent 50+ Forum. Your efforts will aim to combat loneliness and isolation while fostering intergenerational engagement throughout the borough.
  • Action Plan Implementation: Utilize insights gained from the aforementioned activities to implement and track progress on the Age-Friendly Action Plan.
  • Collaboration with Authorities: Partner with the Welsh Government and the Older People's Commissioner for Wales' Office to advance an application for Blaenau Gwent to join the Global Network for Age-friendly Cities and Communities.

Key Responsibilities: You will engage with partner organizations and businesses linked to the Blaenau Gwent Local Well-being Partnership to execute strategic reports, policies, and effective performance management frameworks.

Qualifications: A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field is required. Essential experience includes a proven track record in a related area, utilizing robust evidence such as statistics, research, and analysis to inform decision-making. Experience in multi-agency partnerships, strong influencing skills in partnership contexts, and the ability to draft and implement strategic reports, policies, and procedures are crucial.

Knowledge Requirements: A solid understanding of the key challenges facing public services in Wales and their implications for policy development and review is essential.

This role may also be available as a secondment opportunity, and candidates should seek approval from their Line Manager before applying.
