Finance Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Assistant to join our team at NHS Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Integrated Care Board. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of our financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the production and monitoring of budgets, in accordance with guidelines and agreed deadlines.
- Support the production of Management Information, with a focus on Month-end Management Accounts and Annual Budgets.
- Assist in meeting Statutory Obligations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with various Directorates to position the Finance Department as a trusted advisory service.
- Provide the Finance Officers with the necessary information to build and maintain good relationships with external bodies.
- Assist with the daily systems administration of the Department and plan your workload to ensure routine tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Team and processes.
- Education to NVQ 4 level in a relevant subject or equivalent level of qualification or significant equivalent previous proven experience.
- Good working knowledge of administrative processes and procedures.
- Significant experience of initiating and maintaining office systems (filing systems).
- Knowledge and experience of NHS finance regime.
- Knowledge in areas relevant to the post, including NHS and non-NHS commissioning and financial management.
- Detailed knowledge of financial accounting systems, processes, and procedures, general ledger.
- Experience of drafting correspondence.
- Intermediate knowledge of IT systems and software programmes, such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and SharePoint.
- Demonstrable experience in dealing with the public and managing sensitive and confidential information.
- Previously worked in a similar position within the public sector.
- Demonstrable experience of producing reports.
- Experience of working in a diverse team.
- Experience working in NHS Finance, including some exposure to non-NHS commissioning.
- Has used Oracle or similar ledger to upload journals and run reports.
- A high level of accuracy and excellent attention to detail.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret complex commissioning data and advise colleagues on the financial implications.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise work and manage stakeholder expectations.
- A flexible and adaptable approach to work to meet various deadlines.
- Ability to work at pace in a busy working environment and able to multi-task.
- Able to undertake duties effectively and accurately, working on own initiative unsupervised, within defined policies and procedures to set timescales.
- Provides a high standard of customer service to all internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong team player with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Excellent written and presentation skills, capable of constructing and delivering clear information/instructions to staff and service users.
- Ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of stakeholders, both verbally and in writing, in situations where tact, diplomacy, and influencing skills may be required.
- Fosters good working relationships and values diversity and difference.
- Adherence to the Data Protection Act 2018/General Data Protection Regulation (GPDR).
- Upholds the Equality Act 2010 and the Public Sector Equality Duty.
- Promotes high standards for improving diversity and equality, as per the Workforce Race Equality Standard and Workforce Disability Equality Standard.
- Car driver/owner or reasonable alternative due to travel required across Leicestershire and other locations as required.
