About the Role:

The Long Term Planning Manager will lead the permanent train plan production team, overseeing the three key elements: Timing, Traincrew, and Rolling Stock. This role will coordinate and lead the Timetable production process from initial specification to delivery and refinement.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Direct the planning of the permanent train plan to ensure seamless integration of service changes across all aspects of the Train Planning function.
  • Develop detailed specifications for changes to the timetable that align with core objectives, such as maximizing revenue, improving performance, and reducing operating costs.
  • Liaise with Heathrow Express regarding changes to their train plan for each timetable bid.
  • Collaborate with control team members to effect changes through cross-functional working.
  • Liaise with Network Rail regarding upcoming changes and requirements from the Timetable bid.
  • Produce and distribute documentation detailing Train Plan changes to the wider business.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, including external interest groups and other Train Operators, to discuss timetable opportunities and changes.
  • Undergo necessary training and continuous professional development for the role.
  • Assist with other activities within the Train Planning Team as directed.

Requirements:

  • Experience as a Train Planner.
  • Demonstrated understanding of commercial and customer priorities and issues when developing train plans.
  • Able to liaise with third parties to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Able to resolve complex issues.
  • Experience as a Line Manager or a clear understanding of the requirements for this role.
  • Able to work flexibly and to tight timescales/deadlines.

About the Location:

The role is based in a central location, with remote working options available for a proportion of the working week.

Working Pattern:

Full-time, 37 hours per week, with no weekend working or on-call commitment.
