Ipswich, Suffolk, United Kingdom East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for the role of a Cancer Pathway Administrator at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust.

Are you equipped with outstanding organizational abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the determination to excel in a supportive role that ensures patients navigating the cancer referral process receive the utmost care?

It is crucial that every patient referred for potential cancer diagnosis has their journey meticulously monitored to guarantee timely evaluations and treatments.

As a Cancer Pathway Administrator, you will be instrumental in overseeing the patient's journey, ensuring that all necessary assessments and appointments are arranged promptly.

This role may also be available at a developmental level for suitable candidates.

Key Responsibilities

This position demands a high level of responsibility, where precision is vital to ensure that all administrative duties are executed efficiently. Our Cancer Pathway Administrators are essential to the patient experience, working diligently behind the scenes.

Each month, the organization processes a significant volume of urgent cancer referrals, all of which must be diligently tracked through their respective pathways by our dedicated team.

Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team, you will provide proactive administrative support from the point of referral through to treatment or discharge.

While prior experience in the NHS is advantageous, it is not a prerequisite. A mature outlook, eagerness to learn, and a genuine concern for the role's significance in supporting patients are essential attributes.

You should possess excellent communication skills and thrive in a dynamic, challenging, yet fulfilling environment. Being a team player with a positive attitude towards change and a strong motivation to work effectively is crucial for supporting the delivery of cancer care standards.

In addition to supporting your professional growth, we provide a competitive pension scheme, additional payments for unsocial hours, generous annual leave, and access to various NHS discounts. Our Health and Wellbeing program offers a range of services to support our staff.

Our guiding principle is that every moment matters. We focus on enhancing our processes and eliminating delays to improve the experience for both staff and patients.

We are committed to advancing our services through digital transformation, partnering with leading technology providers to enhance our operational efficiency.

If you are dedicated to patient care and eager to expand your skills and knowledge, we encourage you to consider this opportunity.

Responsibilities Overview

Working closely with clinical and operational teams, Cancer Pathway Administrators are tasked with gathering essential information for each patient to facilitate their clinical journey and, when necessary, prepare for and document outcomes from multidisciplinary meetings.

Please note: this position does not involve direct patient interaction; however, every action taken in this role significantly impacts the patient’s cancer pathway.

The role also encompasses the collection and entry of audit data, adhering to national dataset requirements, which is utilized to inform stakeholders about the organization's performance against national cancer waiting time standards.
