Key Responsibilities
In your role as a Systems Engineer, you will engage in numerous design and construction initiatives. Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Conducting analyses of electromagnetic effects, including Tempest, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP), electrostatic discharge (ESD), and lightning assessments.
  • Collaborating within the electrical engineering team across various engineering disciplines to support multiple marine projects, ensuring effective oversight throughout all design lifecycle phases.
  • Writing, interpreting, and tailoring Tempest and EMC/EMI requirements, and presenting findings at design reviews to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Developing design guidelines for Tempest and EMC/EMI, and performing detailed analyses on components, subsystems, and systems based on established principles.
  • Designing shielding for ground systems, chassis, and harnesses, as well as selecting and arranging interface circuitry to achieve optimal EMC and Tempest outcomes.

Essential Qualifications

  • Experience in EMC/EMI is crucial.
  • Familiarity with laboratory testing equipment such as spectrum analyzers, generators, amplifiers, and measurement antennas.
  • Proven ability to effectively allocate and adapt system-level EMC/EMI requirements into lower-level specifications.
  • Extensive design experience with EMI filters, circuit layout, shielding, and cable design is preferred.
  • Experience in modeling and simulating EMC/EMI using commercial software is advantageous.
  • A high level of expertise is required, as you will be responsible for design development and resolving issues within this specialized area.

Educational Background

  • A degree or HNC/HND equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline is required.
  • A master's degree in electrical engineering, particularly in Electromagnetics, RF, or analogue circuitry, is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Membership in a relevant institution (e.g., RINA, IET, IMechE, IMarEst) and progress towards Chartered or Incorporated status is desirable.

Security Clearance Requirements
The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this position.
