About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Ecologist to join our Ecosystem Solutions department at Ramboll Group A/S. As a key member of our Environment and Health division, you will play a crucial role in delivering innovative and scientifically sound solutions that help increase liveability by reducing pollution and restoring natural environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and undertake ecological surveys, including habitat and species surveys, and produce high-quality reports.
  • Undertake ecological mitigation design and delivery, and liaise with ecological regulators and planning authorities.
  • Lead on small to medium-scale projects, with input on large-scale projects, and manage small to medium-scale projects with input on large-scale projects with the support of the ecology lead.
  • Be the main point of contact with Ramboll project managers, clients, partner organizations, and sub-consultants.
  • Deliver technical work on complex projects, including fee proposal preparation and assisting with client relationship management.
  • Supervise and manage more junior ecologists and sub-consultants, and input to resource planning.
  • Carry out additional duties as may reasonably be required in this role.
Requirements
  • Protected species license(s), particularly experience of named ecologist on European Protected Species Mitigation License(s).
  • Proficient user of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and ArcGIS or QGIS.
  • Experienced in field work and application of survey techniques in accordance with best practice guidance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English to a range of audiences.
  • Capable of producing clear and concise written documents fit for the desired purpose.
  • Highly organized and able to work efficiently and effectively to deadlines on designated tasks.
  • Good knowledge of relevant environmental/ecology legislation.
  • An understanding of the UK planning system in relation to development and the integration of ecology.
  • Full clean UK driving license, willingness to undertake surveys at unsociable hours, and flexibility to allow occasional working away from home.
