About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Ecological Consultant to join our team at FPCR Environment and Design Limited. As a Senior Ecologist, you will play a key role in leading and delivering high-quality ecological work and assessments for a range of clients and projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage projects throughout their life-cycle, providing expert advice on ecology and biodiversity to clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
  • Plan, lead on, and conduct ecological surveys, including environmental impact assessments and biodiversity net gain assessments.
  • Prepare a range of ecological reports and strategies, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA) reports, Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), and Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA) documents.
  • Design and implement appropriate mitigation measures to enhance biodiversity and protect ecological features.
  • Support and mentor junior staff, sharing your knowledge and expertise to develop their skills and professional judgement.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, as well as with contractors and regulatory bodies.
Requirements
  • Degree level or higher in Ecology or a related field.
  • At least 4-5 years of experience in ecological consultancy, with proven experience in project management, including for medium to large-scale and complex sites.
  • Experience in advising clients on Biodiversity Net Gain, including the use of the DEFRA Statutory Biodiversity Metric.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Advanced knowledge of ecology and wildlife protection in the context of the UK legislative and planning system.
  • Membership or eligibility to membership of a relevant professional body, such as the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
