Senior Ecologist Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Ecologist to join our team in Exeter. As a key member of our ecology team, you will be responsible for leading and delivering high-quality work and assessments for a range of clients and projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage projects throughout their life-cycle, providing advice on ecology and biodiversity to clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
  • Plan, lead on, and conduct ecological surveys, undertaking environmental impact assessments and biodiversity net gain assessments.
  • Prepare a range of ecological reports and strategies, building and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Collaborate with our talented team of ecologists, landscape architects, and environmental planners to deliver high-quality outputs.
Requirements:
  • Degree level or higher in Ecology or a related field.
  • At least 4-5 years working in ecological consultancy, with proven experience in project management for medium to large scale and complex sites.
  • Experienced in advising clients on Biodiversity Net Gain and complex report writing.
  • Advanced knowledge of ecology and wildlife protection in the context of the UK legislative and planning system.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office software and preferably some knowledge of GIS packages.
  • Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or similar.
