Senior Ecologist Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Ecologist to join our dynamic ecology department in Exeter. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality ecological services to our clients across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead on complex ecological projects, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), Ecological Impact Assessments (EIAs), and Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRAs)
  • Develop and implement effective conservation strategies for protected species, including bats
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their ecological needs and provide tailored solutions
  • Contribute to the development of our ecology team, sharing knowledge and expertise with colleagues
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest ecological research, legislation, and best practices
Requirements:
  • Degree-level qualification in Ecology or a related field
  • Full Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or equivalent
  • Level 2 Bat Licence
  • Minimum 3 years of project management experience with excellent client liaison skills
  • Advanced knowledge of ecology, wildlife protection, and the UK planning system
  • Experience with Biodiversity Net Gain, including Biodiversity Impact Assessments (BIAs) and the DEFRA metric
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills
  • Competency in Microsoft Office software and GIS packages
