Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team on a temporary basis. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for leading and managing the accounts payable function, ensuring efficient payment processes, and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Accounts Payable Function
    • Manage all supplier invoices, statements, and GP payments
    • Oversee daily management of bank accounts, including Direct Debits, Standing Orders, and cheque transactions
  • Manage Bank Accounts and Records
    • Update and maintain computerised and manual records accurately, including data inputting
    • Set up and maintain accurate computerised records for clients, including bank account details for BACS payments
  • Process Payments and Invoices
    • Produce relevant correspondence and follow procedures to respond to queries relating to accounts receivable
    • Liaise with internal teams and external customers or subcontractors to chase outstanding invoices/credit notes and resolve issues
  • Reconcile Accounts and VAT Returns
    • Reconcile VAT accounts and assist in compiling VAT Returns
    • Review and improve processes continuously, including full documentation

Requirements

  • Proven experience in managing an accounts payable function
  • Proficiency in using Sage 200 or similar accounting software
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to maintain detailed records
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Good communication skills for liaising with internal and external parties
  • Experience in reconciliation of accounts and VAT returns
