Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated professional to oversee the statutory assessment process and manage casework for a designated group of children and young individuals aged 0-25 years with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The role focuses on delivering high-quality, outcome-oriented Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a caseload of children and young people with SEND, adapting to frequently changing circumstances and competing priorities.
  • Utilize diverse strategies to build effective relationships with children, young people, and their families, ensuring their active participation in the statutory process.
  • Manage the statutory assessment process for the assigned caseload, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Develop comprehensive and outcome-focused EHCPs in accordance with statutory guidelines.
  • Identify and coordinate suitable placements for children and young people transitioning between settings, ensuring tailored support is in place.
  • Provide guidance to educational institutions to help them fulfill their statutory obligations in supporting children and young people with SEND.
  • Engage with families and children to facilitate their involvement in the EHCP process.
  • Conduct necessary procedures for children and young people with EHCPs moving in or out of the local area.
  • Attend and contribute to reviews, particularly concerning transitions, at-risk placements, and changes in provision.
  • Monitor placements for the assigned cohort, ensuring that the provided support meets their specific needs.
  • Prepare documentation with well-founded recommendations for decision-making panels and follow up on casework as necessary.
  • Provide information on individual cases to assist in preparing documentation for mediation and tribunal appeals.

Essential Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice 2015.
  • Awareness of policy changes across education, health, and care sectors.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation related to disabled children and their families.
  • Commitment to person-centered planning practices.
  • Experience working with children, young people, and their families.
  • Understanding of special educational needs and disabilities within an educational context.
  • Experience in conflict resolution.
  • Ability to collaborate with a range of providers and partners.

Additional Information:

This position requires an Enhanced DBS check. The role allows for remote working, with the expectation of being in the office one day per week. The compensation rate is fixed.
