Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and personable Healthcare Receptionist to join our dynamic team at Shirland Road Medical Centre. This role is essential in ensuring a welcoming environment for our patients and supporting the smooth operation of our practice.
The successful candidate will possess a strong work ethic and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting. Excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude are crucial, as you will be interacting with patients and staff regularly. You should be comfortable working independently while also contributing to a collaborative team atmosphere.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time position, with hours scheduled Monday through Friday, from 8 AM onwards. There is no requirement for weekend work. The possibility of job sharing exists, and the distribution of hours will be discussed and agreed upon during the hiring process.
Comprehensive training will be provided to ensure you are well-prepared for your responsibilities. We also offer an excellent pension scheme as part of our employment package.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcoming all visitors and callers with a friendly demeanor.
- Managing incoming calls, scheduling appointments, and addressing inquiries effectively.
- Registering new patients while adhering to practice protocols and ensuring all documentation is complete.
- Processing electronic prescription requests and managing patient records accurately.
- Assisting with various administrative tasks as directed by the Practice Managers and supporting the medical team.

Shirland Road Medical Centre is a progressive healthcare facility comprising a team of dedicated professionals, including GP Partners, salaried GPs, nurses, healthcare assistants, and a supportive administrative staff. We pride ourselves on fostering a friendly and collaborative work environment.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications:
- GCSEs in English and Maths (grades A to C).
Desirable Qualifications:
- Previous experience within the NHS is advantageous but not mandatory.
