Airbus Helicopters is the chosen provider of helicopters and maintenance for the Defence Helicopter Flying School (MFTS) located in the UK.

The Aircraft Mechanical Fitter plays a crucial role in the movement, Line, and Base Maintenance of the UK MFTS (RW) H135/H145 fleet.

This non-certifying role involves providing engineering operational support to Flight Operations, ensuring the continued safe operation of the aircraft.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering operational support to Flight Operations.
  • Accomplish Maintenance inspections and repairs as directed by nominated Shift Supervisor or Certifying Engineer.
  • Work to high standards to ensure continued safe operation of the aircraft.
  • Complete maintenance, including airframe structure, power plant, mechanical, and electrical systems in accordance with written instructions laid down by OEM.
  • Conduct off-aircraft mechanical, power plant, component, and composite technical work in workshops as required.
  • Assist in the day-to-day running of the aircraft Hangar, including aircraft movement and general housekeeping responsibilities.

Requirements

Essential

  • Must have thorough knowledge of engine and airframe systems.
  • Knowledge of specialized test equipment relating to engine and airframe systems.
  • Must have up-to-date knowledge of:
    • Flight/Airport Operations
    • Aircraft Line Maintenance
    • Aircraft Base Maintenance.
  • Apprenticeship in Aircraft Maintenance or related discipline.
  • Experience of Base Maintenance.
  • Experience of Flight Operations and Line Maintenance.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of UK Military Aviation and UK MFTS.
  • Knowledge of CAA Part 145 and Part M regulations.
  • Experience on H135/H145.
  • Experience of Airbus Helicopters products.
  • Experience of Military Aviation.
