About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our established team at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple projects within the Information Management and Technology (IM&T) department, delivering to the requirements defined.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple projects within IM&T, ensuring seamless delivery along complete care pathways between healthcare sectors.
  • Utilize a variety of project management methodologies to deliver projects successfully, making effective use of funds and resources.
  • Ensure governance and documentation arrangements are followed within projects, governed through a project board receiving timely and accurate reports of project progress.
  • Manage project funds and report on expenditure to relevant boards where applicable.
  • Work with the IM&T PMO, Commercial Lead, and PMO IM&T Senior Project Manager to ensure effective project controls and assurance.
  • Capture benefits during the project to quantify at project closure.
  • Ensure BAU considerations are considered throughout the project, successfully transitioning to BAU support at project completion.
  • Work in partnership with IM&T staff to ensure effective use of operational resources on projects.
  • Be accountable for the activities of staff within your project team, maintaining a supportive and inclusive team working environment.
  • Work with key stakeholders within in-flight projects to maintain good communication and engagement, removing barriers to change or success.
  • Work with other project manager colleagues within IM&T to maximize the use of project staff, ensuring their skills are efficiently used between projects.
  • Represent UHL at external regional/national forums related to the National Program of IT or similar IM&T initiatives.
Person Specification

Qualification

  • Degree level education or equivalent.
  • Qualified to degree level with a high proportion of IT content or equivalent skills/experience in NHS IM&T.

Experience

  • At least one year's experience working within an NHS environment.
  • At least one year's experience in a project management role within an exposed clinical environment.

Knowledge

  • Problem-solving capabilities of a high order, dealing with multiple project resource allocations and contentious influencing issues.
  • Good leadership skills to ensure delivery of successful projects on time and to budget.

  • Committed to self-development and enthusiastic about acquiring new skills and embracing new technologies.
  • Committed to continuous development of the team's skills to ensure the department stays abreast of latest technological developments.

Stakeholder Management

  • Demonstrate a proven track record of dealing with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Able to manage conflict between different stakeholders while remaining true to organizational values and expectations.
