We are seeking an experienced Emergency Planning Specialist to join our team at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the implementation of an effective emergency planning work programme, including the review, development, and roll-out of plans, training packages, and exercises.
Main Responsibilities:- Support the EPRR team in the continuous development and improvement of training and exercise packages;
- Provide expert advice and guidance to internal colleagues and external partners in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from emergencies or incidents;
- Review and update existing plans to ensure compliance with local and national guidance;
- Design, deliver, and evaluate tests or exercises of emergency and business continuity plans;
- Develop and review emergency and business continuity plans and procedures in line with local and national guidance;
- Degree, NVQ level 4 in a relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in the specialist area;
- Diploma in Health Emergency Planning (DipHEP);
- Qualification in project management or management studies;
- Experience of working in the NHS or Public Sector;
- Experience of performing risk assessments;
- Experience of carrying out a Business Impact Analysis;
- Experience of developing and reviewing emergency and business continuity plans and procedures in line with local and national guidance;
- Experience designing, delivering, and evaluating tests or exercises of emergency and business continuity plans;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels;
- Ability to think critically, prioritise, and recommend appropriate action through the assessment of relevant information;
- Ability to problem solve and has attention to detail;
- Able to make a connection between their work and the benefit to patients and the public;
- Knowledge and understanding of emergency planning legislation, including the Civil Contingencies Act 2004;
- Knowledge and understanding of emergency planning methodologies;
- Experience of managing and reporting risks;
- Knowledge of NHS England's Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR) Framework;
- Values diversity and difference, operates with integrity and openness;
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner confidently and effectively both verbally and in written format;
- Ability to persuade and influence decision making;
- Excellent organisational, programme, resource, and time management skills;
The post holder will work with minimal supervision and be expected to work flexibly as part of the EPRR team.
The successful candidate will be required to work in an emergency situation and have the ability to think ahead to anticipate, identify, and address any risks or problems before they occur.
