Position Overview
We are seeking applications for a full-time Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at our healthcare facility, which serves a diverse population. The successful candidate will be appointed under the terms of the 2003 consultant contract.
The role encourages the development of specialty interests, including but not limited to orthognathic surgery, skin surgery, sialendoscopy, and a growing tempo-mandibular joint replacement service.
This position is primarily based at our main hospital, with designated sessions at affiliated facilities. While rare, there may be occasions requiring work at other locations within the network.
Weekly commitments will align with EWTD guidelines and will be influenced by the recommendations of the British Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, as well as the Consultant contract, and will be detailed in the Job Plan.
The appointee will participate in a 1:8 on-call rotation based at our main hospital.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will join a collaborative team of eight Consultant OMF Surgeons within the regional network, providing services across multiple hospitals.
The post-holder will be proficient in evaluating and performing the full spectrum of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. All inpatient services and on-call responsibilities are centralized at our main hospital, while outpatient clinics, day case surgeries, and minor oral surgeries are conducted at various units.
Our department features a well-equipped Maxillofacial Laboratory staffed by skilled technicians, along with an in-house digital imaging facility.
We offer day surgery lists in both the Treatment Centre and the newly constructed Day Surgery unit. The clinical team is supported by a dedicated group of highly trained dental nurses and maxillofacial/orthodontic technologists.
