Position Overview

We are excited to present an opportunity for an Electric Vehicle (EV) Test Technician. In this role, you will be engaged with automotive EV Powertrain testing systems for various clients, which includes project initiation, troubleshooting, mechanical and electrical assembly, as well as overseeing test cell operations.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a proactive individual eager to embrace new challenges and expand their knowledge in the fast-paced EV sector.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A vocational qualification or equivalent in mechanical or electrical engineering is preferred, although substantial experience will also be taken into account.
  • Proficiency in IT (Microsoft Office Suite) is necessary for maintaining accurate and traceable documentation.
  • Strong communication abilities are essential.
  • A dynamic mindset with a keen interest in learning and adapting is required.
  • Familiarity with EV powertrain, battery, and hybrid systems is advantageous.
  • Experience in testing operations for EV powertrains or hybrid systems is beneficial.
  • Understanding of AC and DC electrical systems is necessary.
  • This position operates on a rotating shift schedule: Early Shift - 6am to 2pm, Late Shift - 2pm to 10pm.

About the Role

You will be part of the Transportation Technologies division, which consists of two laboratories. One specializes in combustion engine and transmission testing, while the other focuses on electric vehicle propulsion systems, including electric motors and complete vehicles. This division has experienced rapid growth, more than doubling in size every two years since 2015.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the operation of multiple test rigs outside of standard office hours using established testing protocols.
  • Install and calibrate data acquisition systems.
  • Debug and commission complex electronic systems with high-speed serial interfaces (e.g., CAN/FLEXRAY).
  • Ensure the validity of generated data in accordance with client specifications.
  • Communicate professionally with colleagues, clients, and suppliers.
  • Maintain calibration of all instrumentation in line with company policies.
  • Contribute to the implementation and adherence to safe working practices.
