About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Software Engineer to join our Group Operations Data Technology Team. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of our Operational Data Platform, which supports Schroders' Operational, Regulatory, and Reporting data requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent the Data Operations Technology team to multiple stakeholders across various projects, ensuring the delivery of data solutions that drive business value.
  • Develop strategic data solutions that meet business needs, leveraging expertise in database development, applications, and services.
  • Perform analysis to support requirements and evaluate the viability of solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Support the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) through implementation and production support.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet business requirements.
Requirements
  • Strong SQL database development skills, including Azure Data Factory, DBT, and Python.
  • Experience in DevOps, automated deployments, and source control tools (ideally Azure DevOps, Octopus Deploy, and GIT).
  • Performance tuning expertise for handling large data sets.
  • Excellent technical knowledge to identify and implement the best solution for a given requirement.
  • Able to deliver well-structured and tested software.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience in Financial Services and data knowledge.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Knowledge of test automation techniques, such as TDD.
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders in both Business and Technology.
