Senior NPD Project Leader

Location: Greater London – Hybrid

Salary: £49,000 - £53,000 + Car Allowance + Benefits

The Advocate Group is collaborating with a prominent player in the beverage sector, searching for a skilled and driven Senior NPD Project Leader to spearhead transformative projects. This role offers a unique chance to partner with a global leader and significantly influence the success of new product initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Ownership of NPD Portfolio

Manage the New Product Development (NPD) portfolio for a segment of the EMEA region.

Engage with both internal and external commercial and operational teams to oversee project intake and ensure alignment prior to monthly governance meetings.

Guarantee On-Time-In-Full (OTIF) delivery of NPD projects by proactively addressing challenges through a structured project management methodology.

2. Project Scoping and Strategic Planning

Work closely with stakeholders to outline commercial, technical, and operational requirements along with success metrics.

Lead project scoping sessions to determine deliverables and key milestones.

Create comprehensive project plans, timelines, and manage interdependencies effectively.

3. End-to-End NPD Project Management

Collaborate with upstream NPD teams based in the US on product development efforts.

Ensure timely provision of accurate Bill of Material data and manage the flow of information throughout the S&OP process.

Coordinate with bottling partners and co-packers to ensure timely project commercialization through regular communication.

4. Leadership of Cross-Functional Project Teams

Lead the cross-functional project team, providing direction and support through regular project meetings and effective action tracking.

Maintain momentum by ensuring team compliance with project timelines and deadlines.

Prioritize tasks and activities to align with project objectives.

5. Stakeholder Engagement

Act as the primary liaison for internal and external multi-regional stakeholders.

Foster effective collaboration and trust among project teams, ensuring clarity through concise written and verbal communication while respecting cultural differences.

Provide timely and prioritized updates to stakeholders and management to facilitate informed decision-making and effective escalation of critical issues.

6. Risk Assessment and Management

Identify potential risks and assess them based on their impact and likelihood.

Develop risk management strategies and prioritize mitigation plans accordingly.

Enable swift resolution of high-priority risks to minimize their impact on project goals.

7. Adherence to Project Management Methodologies

Utilize project management tools and methodologies to plan, execute, and monitor projects.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the project management system.

Ensure comprehensive documentation of timings, milestones, and risks for governance purposes.

8. Data Analysis and Reporting

Generate and utilize reports to analyze extensive data sets.

Prioritize data analysis tasks based on project goals and requirements.

Draw insights and make recommendations based on prioritized data findings.

9. Commitment to Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities to enhance departmental processes and workflows.

Prioritize improvement initiatives based on potential impact and feasibility.

Collaborate with team members to implement prioritized enhancements.

10. Comprehensive Knowledge of the NPD Process

Stay informed about the complete project delivery process.

Prioritize learning and development to enhance knowledge of the NPD process.

Provide guidance and expertise on NPD process-related matters to project team members.

Your Profile:

  • 5+ years of experience in commercialization project management, ideally within the consumer goods sector.
  • A higher education qualification in a relevant scientific or business management field is preferred.
  • A formal project management qualification is advantageous.
  • Experience with project management techniques/tools is essential, including managing within a stage-gate framework.
  • Strong communication skills – clear, concise, adaptable in style.
  • Business acumen to prioritize, challenge, support, and influence with a program mindset for optimal outcomes.
  • Experience in managing technical project delivery through upstream product development and downstream supply chain planning to production cycles. Familiarity with SAP is preferred.
  • Proficient in data analysis using Excel.
  • Highly organized and meticulous, capable of managing 100 – 200 end-to-end projects simultaneously. Uses experience to prioritize time effectively against critical projects.
  • Sense of urgency, multitasking ability, attention to detail, and a broader perspective.
  • Ownership and accountability for project teams/processes.
  • Proven ability to quickly understand company structure, stakeholders, and intercompany processes.
  • Resilient and capable of navigating ambiguity.
  • Ability to perform under pressure.
  • Self-starter who can question/challenge information, identify gaps, and suggest improvements.
  • Positive attitude that fosters enthusiasm in a busy team environment.
  • Comfortable with change in a rapidly evolving department and organization.
