Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Individualized Support: Work one-on-one and in small groups with students, adapting your approach to meet their unique needs and abilities.
  • Develop Positive Behaviors: Help students develop coping strategies and positive behaviors to manage their emotions and improve their overall well-being.
  • Implement Personalized Learning Plans: Assist in creating and implementing personalized learning plans that focus on both academic and personal development.
  • Foster a Supportive Environment: Create a safe and inclusive environment where students feel valued, understood, and supported.
  • Collaborate with Staff: Work closely with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to provide holistic support for students.
  • Monitor Progress: Regularly monitor student progress, providing feedback and adjusting support strategies as needed.
  • Assist with Classroom Management: Assist with classroom management, resource preparation, and other tasks as directed by the teacher.
Requirements
  • Previous Experience: Previous experience working in a PRU or with students who have behavioral, emotional, or social difficulties is preferred.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.
  • Ability to Manage Challenging Behavior: Ability to manage challenging behavior with patience and resilience.
  • Supportive Approach: A supportive, non-judgmental approach to working with vulnerable students is required.
  • Commitment to Education: Commitment to helping students overcome barriers to their education and personal development.
  • Relevant Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in education or support work (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant) are advantageous.
