Job Overview

We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a dedicated and proactive individual to become a part of our Financial Services division. The ideal candidate will be a qualified Accountant or in the process of obtaining their professional accountancy certification. As a vital member of the senior Financial Services Team, you will be tasked with delivering comprehensive technical accounting guidance and insights to various departments and care groups, facilitating the execution of the Trust's capital initiatives. Your role will also involve contributing to the broader objectives of the Finance Department, focusing on enhancing quality and efficiency in our processes and practices. Key Responsibilities

This position is essential for meeting the accounting and reporting obligations related to capital and leasing for the Trust. The successful candidate will assist departments and care groups in managing their capital programs, ensuring that their annual budgets are effectively utilized for the Trust's benefit and that any external funding is appropriately accessed.

Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining the Trust's Fixed Asset Register, ensuring its accuracy and alignment with the General Ledger.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Experience in a technical finance role, applying professional accountancy standards within a complex organization.
  • Proficient in analyzing data for accuracy and completeness, interpreting findings, and performing detailed calculations efficiently.
  • Extensive experience in staff management, including recruitment, performance evaluations, and disciplinary procedures.

Knowledge Requirements

Essential

  • Ability to analyze complex financial data, manage budget allocations, and fulfill external reporting requirements.
  • Proficient in interpreting International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and applying them within the NHS framework.
  • Experience working within the finance function of a complex organization.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of financial accounting principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated expertise in applying IFRS, particularly IFRS 16 and IFRS 12.
  • Extensive experience with general ledger systems and financial software, with a proven track record of implementing improvements.
  • Experience in designing and reporting complex financial information and providing detailed guidance to various stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in establishing and maintaining robust financial governance procedures.

Desirable

  • Operational experience in preparing accounts to a high standard with a clean audit opinion.

Qualifications

Essential

  • CCAB or CIMA qualified accountant or equivalent knowledge and experience, or actively pursuing qualification.

Desirable

  • Degree-level education or equivalent.
  • European Computer Driving Licence.
