Job Overview

Join a distinguished manufacturing organization with over 75 years of successful operation in the industry. We are looking to enhance our Management Accounting team by hiring a Part Qualified Management Accountant. This role involves collaborating with Financial Controllers to deliver financial insights and reporting while optimizing processes, enhancing systems, and analyzing business data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare specific components of the monthly management accounts, ensuring adherence to established procedures and timelines.
  • Compile additional elements of the monthly accounts, including group reporting, following established protocols.
  • Conduct monthly reviews, analyses, and commentary on accounts to identify variances and coordinate necessary actions with other departments.
  • Evaluate business performance and develop data-driven insights, reporting results and forecasts back to the business.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the business cycle in relevant departments, including regular site visits to assess the impact of production methods on financial figures.
  • Ensure the accuracy of standard costing systems, conducting annual reviews of product standards in collaboration with production teams.
  • Maintain appropriate product codes and business reporting structures to accurately reflect gross margins.
  • Provide financial support to designated business areas, including weekly cost reviews with operations teams and profitability assessments.
  • Critically review weekly flash forecast estimates to ensure they are grounded in reasonable assumptions.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within the finance department and across the organization, implementing internal enhancements as needed.
  • Prepare annual budgets and interim reforecasts for submission, ensuring thorough analysis of variances.
  • Support the preparation of capital expenditure proposals, ensuring financial justifications are robust and clearly articulated.
  • Maintain the fixed assets register, including depreciation postings and the addition of new capital projects.
  • Assist with foreign currency hedging and cash flow management.
  • Prepare VAT returns and other regulatory reports in a timely manner.
  • Update master file data in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assist with system administration tasks as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience relevant to a manufacturing environment.
  • A strong desire to work in a manufacturing setting, embracing the associated challenges.
  • Currently pursuing CIMA (or equivalent), having completed the Operational level and either started or planning to start the Management level.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing context, particularly with standard costing models.
  • Solid background in accounting.
  • Understanding of multi-currency environments.
  • Proficient IT skills, particularly in Excel, with knowledge of advanced formulas and possibly SQL or VBA.
  • Experience in spreadsheet development, including documentation and error-checking processes.
  • Strong grasp of accounting principles and the role of finance within an organization.
