About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Advisory Lead, Trade Finance to join our team at NatWest. As a key member of our Financial Crime team, you will play a critical role in identifying, assessing, and managing risks related to Trade Finance.

This is a specialist role that requires a deep understanding of anti-money laundering (AML) and other financial crime regulatory requirements. You will work closely with our business teams, products, and Risk function to develop and implement effective financial crime controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and inspire a team of business and customer control partners to ensure the development and delivery of effective financial crime controls for our Trade Finance business.
  • Build and lead the Trade Finance Advisory function, providing guidance and training on the interpretation of FC policy, standards, and risk appetite decisions across all FC typologies.
  • Partner with other specialist advisory colleagues and business teams to ensure consistent implementation of a robust FC control framework.
  • Develop relationships across the industry and engage on regulatory matters.
  • Utilize data to set out the current state of play to senior stakeholders, while articulating and driving forward the targeted enhancements required to achieve the strategic end state for the control framework.
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of AML and other financial crime regulatory requirements and how these apply to Trade Finance.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to influence at senior management levels and collaborate across an organization.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate multiple sources of information, considering alternatives and the associated consequences.
  • Drive to design and build an industry-leading control framework for Trade Finance.
  • Proven people leadership skills.
  • Ability to coach and build capability into the wider team.
