About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Data Science and Innovation to join our team at the Department for Science, Innovation & Technology. As a key member of our data science team, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of data-driven solutions to drive business growth and innovation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of data science strategies and solutions to drive business growth and innovation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business needs and develop data-driven solutions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure data science solutions meet business needs.
  • Lead the design and implementation of data science projects, including data collection, analysis, and visualization.
  • Develop and maintain data science capabilities, including data engineering, machine learning, and data visualization.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior data scientists and engineers.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the team remains competitive and innovative.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in leading data science teams and developing data-driven solutions.
  • Strong technical skills in data engineering, machine learning, and data visualization.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to lead and manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Experience working with cloud-based technologies, including AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure.
