About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Science Project Lead to join our team at the Department for Science, Innovation & Technology. As a key member of our Data Science team, you will be responsible for leading projects from inception to delivery, working closely with stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead data science projects from idea inception to delivery, working closely with stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Develop and implement data science solutions to drive business value and improve decision-making.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for data-driven innovation and implement solutions.
  • Design and manage user research to develop scalable and maintainable data science solutions.
  • Communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data science, applying this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement within the team.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in leading data science projects and teams, with a strong track record of delivering successful outcomes.
  • Expert-level skills in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL, with experience in statistical modeling, machine learning, and database management.
  • Strong foundation in statistics and mathematics, with the ability to critique statistical analyses and choose appropriate techniques for different datasets.
  • Experience with supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms, with a strong understanding of data engineering requirements for data science products.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
