About this role

This exciting opportunity has arisen to join The Open Door Centre (Swindon and District) Ltd as a Strategic Development Director. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in developing and delivering our strategic business plan, building strong relationships with partners, and securing funding to support our mission.

Main responsibilities:

  • Work closely with our trustees, staff, and volunteers to develop and implement our strategic business plan, ensuring we achieve our goals and objectives.
  • Act as the lead relationship manager with partners, fostering strong relationships and identifying new opportunities for collaboration and growth.
  • Take ownership of diversifying our fundraising streams, including grants, corporate fundraising, and community engagement, to ensure a sustainable income.
  • Develop and submit high-quality grant applications and reports, working closely with external partners to secure funding that aligns with our strategic aims.
  • Develop and maintain effective systems and processes, including funder reporting and review meetings, to ensure we meet our fundraising KPIs.

Skills and competencies:

  1. Proven experience in third-sector fundraising, including corporate fundraising, funder reporting, and grants.
  2. A proactive approach to engaging with new and existing funders, building lasting relationships and identifying new opportunities.
  3. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to adapt your style for different audiences and stakeholders.
  4. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Strong organizational skills, with a firm understanding of KPIs, targets, budgeting, and risk mitigation plans.
  6. Proactive, positive, and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and inspire others.
  7. IT literate, with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, the internet, and social media.
