Position: Surface Mount Technology Production Engineer

Location: Chippenham

Contract Type: Ongoing

Compensation: £17-20 per hour DOE + 26 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays + 37.5 hours per week

Working Days: Monday to Friday

A skilled Production Engineer with expertise in Surface Mount Technology (SMT) is required for a leading manufacturer in Chippenham. This ongoing contract role is ideal for a candidate with a strong manufacturing background and a proven track record in supervising teams to ensure compliance with established procedures and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct component-level fault diagnosis and repairs.
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of Surface Mount Machines.
  • Ensure the safe and correct use of printing equipment, reflow ovens, and automated optical inspection machines (AOI).
  • Achieve production and quality targets set by the company.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in Surface Mount productivity.
  • Work effectively under tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Demonstrate reliability, diligence, and a strong work ethic.
  • Preferably possess experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Interpret and analyze engineering and mechanical drawings.
  • Operate SMT machinery proficiently.
  • Utilize pick & place, reflow, screen printing, and AOI machines.
  • Supervise the SMT department.
  • Operate and program CAD-based SMT machinery.
  • Perform maintenance on SMT machinery as needed.
  • Employ both pick & place machinery and manual techniques for SMT assembly population.
