Role Summary:

As a Commercial Counsel, you will deliver expert legal support and strategic advice to the Sales, Commercial, and Marketing teams within the organization. Your focus will encompass a variety of commercial matters, including disputes, intellectual property, and technology, with an emphasis on drafting and negotiating contracts as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize your legal expertise to support the Sales and Commercial teams in achieving customer acquisition goals and delivering passive infrastructure services in the mobile telecommunications sector.
  • Serve as the primary legal contact for Sales, Marketing, and Communications teams, addressing day-to-day legal inquiries and providing general support.
  • Engage in drafting and negotiating legal documents across diverse areas such as IT, Marketing, Operations, and general Commercial matters, while offering insights into business strategies and governance documentation.
  • Proactively identify potential challenges or issues and manage them independently.
  • Handle a variety of agreements, including cloud services contracts, infrastructure sharing agreements, NDAs, and master services agreements.
  • Provide sound legal guidance regarding risks and issues related to specific deals, aiming to mitigate risks and offer practical solutions.
  • Support the Marketing, Brand, and Communications teams with relevant legal advice.
  • Collaborate closely with the Senior Commercial Counsel on queries and drafting contract variations for key Master Services Agreements.
  • Oversee the maintenance and transformation of the template document suite that underpins commercial transactions.
  • Continuously update the document suite in line with evolving legal requirements and ensure compliance with customer obligations.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of the Legal & Compliance Team's function by providing innovative solutions and forward-thinking approaches to legal workstreams.
  • Identify areas for transformation and develop new solutions, often leveraging technology for improved efficiency.
  • Establish effective working relationships with legal suppliers to ensure satisfactory handling of work at an appropriate cost.
  • Maintain close working relationships with legal supplier teams, requiring daily management and support.

Required Skills:

  • Qualified solicitor with a background in commercial law.
  • Extensive experience in commercial contracts.
  • 3-6 years of post-qualification experience in commercial transactions.
  • Experience within a dynamic in-house legal team.
  • Solicitor with a current practicing certificate.
  • Strong interpersonal and project management abilities.
  • Capability to build robust relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Proactive initiative with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Solid commercial awareness.
  • Experience with Technology, Marketing, and Intellectual Property contracts.
