About the Position

As a Renewable Energy Project Leader, you will be responsible for the successful execution of large-scale wind, solar, and battery energy storage systems, managing both the commercial and technical dimensions from the point of planning approval to operational launch. You will guide a team of specialists in their respective domains.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Oversight: Direct the implementation of designated wind and solar projects, ensuring comprehensive management of both commercial and technical elements from development approval through contracting, construction, and into operational phases. This role is supported by the Spencer Ogden construction and legal teams.
  • Sales and Acquisition Support: Collaborate with the Corporate Finance team to assist in project sales and support acquisition efforts in the UK and Ireland through electrical diligence or project management as required.
  • Strategic Development: Engage in the strategic planning and direction for Spencer Ogden's initiatives within the UK and Irish markets.
  • Tender Management: Prepare tender specification documents and assist in the evaluation and analysis of tender submissions.
  • Best Practice Enhancement: Contribute to the improvement of Spencer Ogden's best practice methodologies, valuation techniques, knowledge management, and internal resources.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain effective communication with various stakeholders regarding project objectives and requirements.
Qualifications
  • Technical, Commercial, and Digital Proficiency: A combination of technical, commercial, and digital skills.
  • Educational Qualifications: A degree in civil, mechanical, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Experience: Relevant post-graduate experience in the construction sector of the UK renewable energy industry.
  • Contractual Knowledge: Familiarity with the structure, content, and operational requirements of standard construction contracts, including FIDIC Yellow or NEC 3.
  • Team Leadership: Proven experience in coordinating contributions from colleagues, external consultants, and contractors across various technical, financial, and commercial domains.
  • Site Coordination: Experience working alongside a Site Manager or Resident Engineer to facilitate project execution.
  • Negotiation Expertise: Strong commercial acumen with experience in managing complex negotiations and resolving disputes.
  • Analytical Problem Solving: Organized and pragmatic, with the capability to devise solutions for intricate challenges.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, skilled in fostering strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
  • SHEQ Management: Experience in overseeing projects with a focus on Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ).
