35 hours per week for 41 weeks per year - Term time only plus 3 weeks.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The primary responsibility of this position is to assist the projects team in delivering a range of services provided by Hertfordshire Catering Limited (HCL) across Hertfordshire and neighboring areas. The successful candidate must demonstrate flexibility in their working schedule. A valid driving license is essential, as the role involves operating company vehicles. The individual will collaborate closely with the project and equipment manager and will be stationed at the HCL Head Office. The role may require some physical tasks, including lifting and carrying.

Weekend work may also be a component of this position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Safely and efficiently operate various vehicles as needed.
  2. Conduct safety inspections and checks on vehicles, reporting any issues or incidents to the Line Manager. Complete necessary documentation, including inspection reports and mileage logs, in line with departmental protocols.
  3. Engage with customers in a professional and respectful manner, ensuring dignity and respect in all interactions.
  4. Assist with the loading and unloading of deliveries, as well as the transfer of catering equipment and supplies between different HCL locations.
  5. Manage the distribution and collection of smoothie bikes utilized by HCL.
  6. Oversee the delivery and retrieval of cook's uniforms from the laundry, maintaining accurate records and inventory levels, and coordinating with the laundry service for drop-off and pick-up schedules.
  7. Support the projects team in managing and maintaining the asset management system.
  8. Help catalog existing equipment across the estate and input data into the asset management system.
  9. Assist the sales team with food tenders, including the loading and unloading of equipment and food items.
  10. Participate in all required training and regular staff supervision sessions, and undertake additional duties as necessary.
  11. Complete all mandatory training in a timely manner and keep skills updated.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a high level of accuracy in written English and financial management abilities.
  • Effective organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks under pressure.
  • Demonstrated experience in customer engagement and expectation management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team while leveraging individual expertise to support broader team objectives.
  • Exhibit exemplary professional behavior and uphold the highest ethical standards.
  • Proficient in IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.
  • Possess the necessary driving qualifications: Medium-sized vehicles Category C1, allowing operation of vehicles between 3,500 and 7,500kg maximum authorized mass (MAM) with a trailer up to 750kg.
  • Confident in driving various vehicles safely; a driving assessment will be part of the interview process.
  • Capable of accurately completing documentation.
  • Open to training for diverse roles and services.
  • Physically fit and able to lift and carry items.
  • Flexible in working hours.
  • A strong team player, capable of working independently, with a positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills, particularly in customer interactions.
  • Familiarity with manual handling techniques for goods and/or individuals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

CRIMINAL RECORDS CHECK

This position involves significant contact with children or vulnerable adults and is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. An enhanced disclosure will be required through the Criminal Records Bureau as part of HCL's pre-employment checks.
