We are seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to enhance our pre-fabrication (DFMA) facility team in the Midlands.
As a vital member of our proficient commercial team, you will operate from our off-site facility, taking charge of commercial responsibilities while seamlessly integrating with on-site teams. Your primary focus will be on the successful and financially efficient execution of projects nationwide, initially concentrating on a hyperscale data center project in the northern home counties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate effectively within the team and demonstrate a commitment to learning various aspects of mechanical and electrical systems, along with general construction practices.
- Assume ownership and accountability for your designated scope of work.
- Maintain professionalism and diligence in all tasks and responsibilities.
- Measure from plan drawings and isometrics to generate comprehensive and accurately priced bills of quantities, including labor hours and material costs.
- Monitor costs and labor throughout the project lifecycle.
- Track project hours spent against the earned schedule.
- Conduct thorough construction take-offs, prepare cost plans, and ensure effective tracking of costs and labor efficiency.
- Present take-offs in a clear and organized manner while adhering to NRM2 standards and procedures.
- Provide timely and precise CCS submissions on a monthly basis.
- Prepare and ensure the accuracy of monthly valuation submissions and certification agreements.
- Generate timely assessments, payment certificates, and payless notices for subcontractors each month, understanding the payment conditions outlined in the Construction Act.
- Produce accurate cash flow submissions monthly.
- Ensure that the final account is settled within the specified project timeline.
- Protect the company from potential third-party claims.
- Prepare subcontract packages for procurement, negotiate contracts, and manage them through to final account settlement.
- Strive to gain a comprehensive understanding of assigned tasks, recognizing their significance and how they contribute to the overall project.
- Research RICS competencies and actively pursue development in these areas.
- Proactively seek guidance from senior Quantity Surveyors for personal development.
- Focus on continuous improvement by seeking opportunities to engage in new tasks that enhance your skill set, including shadowing senior QS or other team members.
- Request regular feedback from senior QS regarding completed tasks.
Qualifications & Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar capacity.
- Experience in a pre-fabrication role is highly advantageous.
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management is required.
