Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced pharmacy professional to join our team as a Senior Operational Manager at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage and prioritize workflow in the dispensary to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Dispense and accuracy check prescriptions received, ensuring high-quality patient care.
  • Allocate and rota plan for the dispensary team and other support staff to meet service needs.
  • Complete appraisals, sickness absence reporting, and mentoring of allocated staff to support their development.
  • Review and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as required to maintain high standards of practice.
  • Work closely with the Principal Pharmacy Technician to develop and improve the current service.

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences / QCF Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • At least one year, post-qualification experience.
  • Supervision and mentoring of junior staff.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Able to use a range of computer programs relevant to the post.
  • Audit of practice and/or of the impact of a change in the way the service is delivered.
  • Able to use own judgment to prioritize tasks.
  • Experience in objectives setting for a team.
  • Flexible to changing work routines.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and develop teamworking within the section.
  • Ability to demonstrate motivation for applying for a post in this organisation.
