Overview

We are thrilled to present an opportunity for you to become a part of our team as a Senior Programming and Community Engagement Officer. We seek an individual capable of linking diverse audiences to our organization by crafting and executing engaging programming initiatives.
This position is a fixed-term contract, concluding upon the return of the previous employee from maternity leave. The exact duration of this contract cannot be confirmed at this time, but it is anticipated to be no longer than 13 months.

Work Environment

Reporting to the Visitor Operations & Experience Manager, you will join the Visitor Operations & Experience Team and oversee our Programme Assistant and event volunteers. Exciting changes are underway, and we are eager to welcome innovative individuals to our team. We are committed to enhancing our visitor offerings and showcasing our renowned collection of art and sculptures, alongside our historically designed parks and grounds. Our goal is to place our audience and supporters at the core of our initiatives, creating exceptional experiences for all visitors.
We operate 363 days a year and are witnessing growth in our visitor numbers, catering to local communities, independent adults, and families. While we take pride in managing a site of international significance, our primary focus remains on becoming a beloved and relevant part of the local community.
Note: Weekend and evening work may be required for events, and you will also participate in a team of duty managers on a rotating basis.

Key Responsibilities

You will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our year-round public programming, including major seasonal events. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Identifying opportunities for collaboration with community and commercial partners.
  • Ensuring our programming reflects the interests and needs of our audiences while highlighting the captivating stories of our venue.
  • Engaging with regular visitors and reaching out to new audiences, while evaluating the impact of programming for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Experience in developing high-quality visitor programming and collaborating with community or commercial partners in the arts, culture, or natural environment sectors.
  • Creative leadership skills, with a knack for innovating ways to connect individuals with art, history, and nature.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain partnership relationships that enhance engagement opportunities for visitors and local communities.
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Experience in analyzing audience data to inform and enhance programming initiatives.
