Role Overview: Technical Specialist

The Technical Specialist is tasked with executing tailored development activities, integrating various systems and devices, and delivering technical assistance for InterSystems healthcare solutions and associated products. This position is pivotal in ensuring the effective, standardized, and timely deployment of technical resources. Responsibilities include site-specific configurations such as integrations, data migrations, reporting, analytics, database modifications, and environment setups to align with project requirements. The Technical Specialist may need to travel to client locations for technical support and training, potentially spending significant time away from home.

Core Responsibilities

The Technical Specialist will follow the InterSystems ARIES Customer Engagement Methodology and will:

Discovery Phase

  • Analyze bid documents and proposals to pinpoint technical deficiencies
  • Collaborate with project teams to estimate and execute necessary developments and configurations
  • Engage in technical workshops to draft specifications for technical components
  • Provide effort assessments for technology sections of proposals
  • Facilitate workshops to ensure seamless progress during the discovery phase
  • Evaluate modifications identified during the discovery phase and generate delivery estimates

Launch Phase

  • Review and confirm adherence to technical sections of contracts and documentation
  • Participate in technical workshops to finalize specifications
  • Offer effort estimations for Change Control Notes

Setup Phase

  • Develop and validate integrations, reports, data migration scripts, and features
  • Carry out technical tasks including integration, data migration, and reporting
  • Assist with Data Uploads during the setup phase
  • Work with the configuration team to strategize development and releases
  • Debug issues post-development release
  • Help validate implemented changes
  • Assess issues and potential change requests
  • Ensure a thorough handover of local development to the Support team

Adoption Phase

  • Engage in Cutover planning and Go-Live activities
  • Support handover and Go-Live onsite activities as necessary

Sustain Phase

  • Provide assistance for third-line support of local development issues
  • Estimate changes through the change management process
  • Undertake additional development as required
  • Assist in the implementation of new modules in live customer environments

Qualifications and Skills

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree and experience in software development
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent communication and training skills
  • Proficiency in web languages, SQL, and data analysis
  • Experience in customer-focused interactions
  • Ability to lead projects and deliver results within set timelines

Desirable

  • Ability to independently resolve issues in uncertain situations
  • Experience with HL7 programming
  • Familiarity with InterSystems technology and healthcare systems
  • Knowledge of Health Information Exchange standards
  • Fluency in English and an additional language
